What's Happening at Northgate
Northgate Elementary upcoming Events:
School starts at 8:40am and dismisses at 2:50pm.  Breakfast is served at 8:20pm.

International Potluck and Fashion Show:
On Thursday, February 26th from 6-8pm, we will have our 18th Annual International Potluck and Fashion Show. We invite our families and friends to bring your favorite ethnic dish to share (feeding 6 or more) and enjoy the good company. Our PTA will provide drinks and our staff will provide desserts. During the evening, family posters will be on display and we will have a fashion show.  If your child would like to participate in the fashion show, please sign up in the front office and have them wear their traditional clothing to the potluck. There will also be traditional music and dance and a $1 raffle.

5th Grade Camp Fundraiser:
Our 5th Graders are going off to camp during the first week of March.  They will be attending the outdoor school Islandwood which is located on Bainbridge Island.  This will be four amazing days of fun, adventure, outdoor learning, and team building for our students. Our 5th graders need your help to get to Islandwood. Buy a Brown Bear Car Wash ticket for $8 from one of our students or donate online.  See the link below.

Global Reading Challenge:
The Global Reading Challenge is a Battle of the Books program for 4th and 5th graders enrolled in Seattle Public School.  The program encourages students to have fun and enjoy reading.  This year Northgate started with 5 teams:  S'more Reading, Peeps without a name, Golden Hawks, Seahawks Love to Read, and Smarter than a Book. At the in-school competition in early February, Smarter than a Book won the challenge.  Now they will be heading to the downtown libary on March 6th for the semi-finals with their 4th grade classmates cheering them on. GO Smarter than a Book!!

Meals4Minds (FREE GROCERIES)
This year we have again been chosen by Target for their Meals4Minds program that provides free groceries to each of our students through Food Lifeline.  This is an amazing benefit for our families and we encourage you to participate.  Due to the weight of these bags --22lbs per child, we cannot allow children to take the bags home on the school bus.  We ask that parents, guardians, friends come in to pick the groceries up. Please contact your child's teacher or the front office if you need to make other arrangements. Distribution is in our playcourt from 2:30-3:30pm on the following dates:

February 19
March 19
April 23
May 21
June 11
